Thinking of some place to go cycling? Bored and/or too broke for Europe? Care to have more of a bike vacation than bike work? Why not consider the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes which runs a ridiculous 73 paved miles through nearly unadulterated Native American reservation land in gorgeous North Idaho? I’ve heard nothing but wonderful comments about this trail from various customers and I’m really anxious to get up there for two reasons. First, I’d like to support what could be a complete bike path link between Seattle and Montana. On a more Bike Friday related note, though, I’d like to support my customers the Lookabills who moved to Plummer to set up shop at the trailhead. Larry and Mary own a Bike Friday tandem or two and have a particular interest in helping the differently abled ride, so they have their fair share of recumbents and such, too! Larry had this idea in mind for a long time and he now finally has all the pieces together, especially after going to school at the United Bicycle Institute in Ashland, Oregon. And since he rents bikes, you could go there and try a Bike Friday while you try out this gorgeous trail. Who could ask for more?Larry provides further info on the shop, which was featured in the official Coeur d’Alene Visitors Guide:

“Our bike shop is located in the historic Plummer Grange (built about 1915). We are within sight of the trailhead for the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, which is one of the nicest trails in the country. It is a fairly flat (maximum 2% grade), 72 mile paved bicycle trail going from Plummer across the Idaho panhandle to Mullen. A large portion of our business is with people who are traveling so we see Bike Friday riders regularly. Our goal is to provide people, particularly older adults and those with physical issues, a bike that is comfortable to ride. With their custom fitting, Bike Fridays are very comfortable. We have three different models in our rental fleet. Our Plummer shop is open from May 1 to October 1. We can be contacted at (208) 691-2266 or (208) 686-1568. The shop is located at 643 C street in Plummer, Idaho. During the winter season we have a mobile shop in Surprise, Arizona. We can be contacted there at (208) 691-2266 or (623) 584-1585. We can help you with your Bike Friday at either location.”
